Celebrating Prospect Avenue’s History
For decades, Prospect Avenue has grown and changed but still retained a sense of old-fashioned neighbourliness. Within walking and cycling distance of green spaces, recreation, schools, and shopping, the neighbourhood community has flourished by supporting people of all ages, abilities, and diversities in a safe and inclusive way. Throughout the seasons as people go about school, work, and play they know that the neighbourhood is a place to gather, catch up, get help, and have fun.ate, Examples of support and activities include providing meals for people, delivering bouquets of lilacs, shoveling sidewalks, borrowing a cooking ingredient, lending items, mini winter carnivals, community dinners, a recent sidewalk chalk art-making, and, simply taking time to listen. The neighbours work towards being friendly, compassion and casual as best they can. At its heart, people in the neighbourhood know that by working together, their neighbours will always be there for them and that kindness radiates outwards.
