What Makes Thunder Bay Great?

What makes Thunder Bay a great place to live, work, and grow?
What do you love about this city, and what would make it even better?

We want to hear your story!

We're inviting individuals and groups of all ages to share short written reflections (up to 250 words) that capture what makes Thunder Bay special today and what gives it potential for tomorrow.

One grand prize winner will have their submission included in full in the Smart Growth Action Plan,
and will win an Ultimate City of Thunder Bay Prize Pack!

Prizes will be awarded for stand-out entries in each age category, and several selections will also be chosen at random, ensuring everyone has a chance to win!

*Selected submissions may be featured in the Smart Growth Action Plan, online, or in future City promotions.

How to Enter

• Write a short piece (up to 250 words) about what makes Thunder Bay great.

• You can submit as an individual or a group.

• Optional: Attach a photo that connects to your story.

• Submit your entry online through this page, by email to great@thunderbay.ca, or in person at City Hall.

If you’re under 18, please have a parent or guardian submit your entry on your behalf.

Age Categories

• Children & Youth (17 and under)

• Young Adult/Student (18–25)

• Adult (26+)

Submission Terms

By submitting an entry, you agree:

• That the City of Thunder Bay may use all or part of your entry to promote the City, Smart Growth, or civic pride, without further notification or compensation.

• That the City may contact you for follow-up, permission to use a photo, or to request additional information.
