    Hello,

With the exception of a declared outbreak, visitors are required to be screened (including the rapid antigen test) and to test negative for the virus. Vaccinations are not required for visitors at this time, however we do change requirements based on the direction of the Ministry of Health and Public Health requirements.

    Thank you for your question.

  • Share Hi - I am just starting the process of looking for assisted living for my soon to be 89 year old Mom. Thank you for your interest in Pioneer Ridge.I would like to direct you to call the NWLHINS-  Home and Community Care- intake. 345-7339 Here they will be able to fill you in  on the process for determining eligibility to Long Term Care and about the  rates charged by all Homes.

It is this agency that manages our wait-list.  When we have an available bed we let them know and they will match our bed to an applicant on our list. We do not pick our residents.

How do apply to be a resident at Pioneer Ridge? Also If I want to move from Jasper Place to Pioneer Ridge what do I need to do

lookingforcare asked almost 3 years ago

Good day, and thank you for your interest in Pioneer Ridge. All admissions to Long Term Care are managed by the NWLHINs, (345-7339).

Once the NWLHINs has determined eligibility for Long Term Care, they will ask you what Homes you would like to reside in and then send your applications and assessments to those Homes for review.

If, at that time, the Home feels they can meet your needs, they will let the NWLHINs know, and you would be added to the wait list. The NWLHINs lets each Home know when applicants are matched for admissions.I hope this helps and I wish you all the best as you plan for living arrangements.

    Best Regards,

Dr Maureen Grace asked about 3 years ago

Thank you Dr. Grace for your questions.

I realize we spoke of these issues personally but I thought I would share some of our conversations, as others may have the same question.

The Home has and continues to strongly promote and encourage all staff to obtain the Covid-19 vaccination.

Several resources are provided to deliver education and encouragement to staff.

Vaccination is a personal choice and cannot be made mandatory.

Notably, although having all our staff getting vaccinated is helpful for the residents and our community, the most important thing is for the residents themselves to be vaccinated.

We know that being vaccinated does not prevent one from contracting Covid-19 but it will lessen the severity and decrease the chance of death.  98% vaccination rate for the residents is very good.

All this being said, we have been very successful with Infection Prevention and Control throughout the pandemic and our staff are remaining diligent in this area, which is the most critical step for transmitting any virus.

Our current rate of active staff vaccination is approximately 71% and we hope to see this improve.

Unfortunately the isolation of residents to their room, is a ministry directive that is followed when an outbreak is declared. The isolation is not dependent on vaccination rates.

Hopefully very soon we will see this outbreak definition change as to lessen this negative impact on our residents.

What furniture and personal items can we bring?

Prior to moving into Pioneer Ridge please check with Environmental Services about the furnishings, appliances or electronics you want to bring in. We need to check all items to make sure they are safe and in working order. You may not want to bring breakable or valuable objects.  Keep in mind that space is limited in the room, and too much furniture can make it unsafe for your loved one and for staff.
