<img src="https://s3.ca-central-1.amazonaws.com/ehq-production-canada/24b1dbdc1b45f3aec8ca5a06439f59353543cfd8/original/1611863695/fishermans-park-west1.jpg_dd3b5e0815e08fc4244bfa0c6c38e5a3?1611863695" style="width: 300px;" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-bordered fr-fir" alt="Fisherman's Park West - Thunder Bay">The Thunder Bay District Stewardship Council, <a href="https://lakeheadca.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Lakehead Region Conservation Authority</a>, and the City of Thunder Bay Parks &amp; Open Spaces Section are working together to develop a <a href="https://getinvolvedthunderbay.ca/19460/widgets/77611/documents/49146">concept plan</a> to restore wildlife habitat, rehabilitate Lake Superior&rsquo;s shoreline, recreate coastal wetlands, and provide passive recreation opportunities at Fisherman&rsquo;s Park West.The goal of the project is to restore the park by returning the area to a more naturalized condition by planting trees, shrubs, and perennials that are native to our region. Fisherman&rsquo;s Park West boasts beautiful views of the Sleeping Giant and offers an intimate experience with Richardson International&rsquo;s Grain Elevators &ndash; a staple of Thunder Bay&rsquo;s economy. The naturalization of this area will provide valuable breeding grounds, shelter, and forage for migrating waterfowl, birds, and pollinators, while also creating a space where the public can explore and enjoy the beautiful natural landscape.Please take a look at the Concept Plan documents (<a href="https://getinvolvedthunderbay.ca/19460/widgets/77611/documents/49146">Fisherman&#39;s West Concept Plan</a>, and <a href="https://getinvolvedthunderbay.ca/19460/widgets/77611/documents/48279">Fisherman&#39;s West Pollinator Concept Plan</a>).Comments were received via a survey on this page until March 1, 2021. In an <a href="https://getinvolvedthunderbay.ca/19460/widgets/77611/documents/55839">April 2021 update</a>, the results of the public consultation, and plans for the restoration, were made available by the Lakehead Conservation Authority.
