Summary Report

We connected with local residents from June 8 - 29, 2021, to gather input and comments on the 2022 City Budget. Engagement activities included a survey and virtual town hall. A 2022 Pre-Budget Engagement Summary Report was presented to City Council on Oct. 25,2021, which captured all of the input shared by the public. An accompanying detailed verbatim report was also provided directly to Council to share full citizen comments.

Background

The Budget is more than dollars and cents. It impacts you through the programs and services you receive. Each time you have your garbage collected, turn on the water, have your road plowed, or use a City park, you are seeing your tax dollars at work. The City's mission is to provide a balance of services that improve our quality of life and supports our economy in a responsible manner.

As we recover from the impacts of COVID-19, and continue forward in this unique unprecedented environment, we wanted to hear from you, the residents of Thunder Bay. What would you like to see in the budget? What programs and services are important to you?

City Council received all citizen feedback in advance of their review of the proposed 2022 budget which is prepared by Administration and presented to City Council. Further input opportunities will be available when the proposed budget is released in early January including opportunities for deputations to City Council.
