It’s budget time - help shape the 2026 budget!

Public engagement is key to building a budget that reflects the needs and priorities of our community.

The Proposed 2026 Operating Budget was released on January 16 – check it out here

Completed the survey but have more to say? Email your.budget@thunderbay.ca!

Want to read a summary of what the budget means for you? Check out our Community Handbook!

Catch us in person:

Pop-up – Thunder Bay Country Market – January 17, 2026 – 8am to 1pm

Pop-up – Winter Fundays at Marina Park – January 25, 2026 – 2pm to 4pm

The Budget is much more than dollars and cents. It impacts you everyday in the services you use, some without even realizing it. Each time you go for a walk, drive your vehicle, attend a festival, or visit the library, you are seeing your tax dollars at work.

The Budget explains how we will deliver quality services that meet our community’s needs. It is important that residents and businesses have an opportunity to provide feedback throughout the Budget process. This year, we’re offering a number of surveys to get feedback on specific portions of the budget process.

The proposed 2026-2027 Capital Budget was released on November 18, 2025 and approved on December 2, 2025 - check it out here!
