Consultation has concluded

At the Council meeting on Aug. 10, 2020, the proposed Indoor Turf Facility was approved to move forward and on Aug. 24, 2020, this decision was ratified. The project will proceed to tender late 2020/early 2021 with tentative construction beginning spring 2021.

Public Comment:

An online public comment period was available from July 6 - Aug. 3, 2020. All comments were shared with City Council as can be seen in the Aug. 10, 2020, Corporate Report listed above.


About the Facility:

Proposed uses for the facility include soccer, walking, ultimate, football, baseball, drone competitions, cricket, lacrosse, large community events/cultural gatherings, and a potential emergency evacuation centre.

At this time, the facility includes the following components:

  • One full-size indoor turf field 310’ x 190’ with a minimum 40’ clear height (dividable into 4- 150’ x 90’ quarter fields)
  • Automatic quarter pitch field separation curtains
  • Two lane walking track with locker area/change area for walkers
  • Eight change rooms and referee changing areas
  • Second floor seating for up to 800 with capacity for standing room
  • Food/beverage amenities, mezzanine overlooking indoor turf facilities on upper level
  • Washrooms located throughout
  • Tournament hosting / Administrative office space for staff and community groups
  • Storage & service spaces
