Thunder Bay Transit Public Survey

Thunder Bay Transit currently offers a fixed route conventional public transit system and through Lift+ provides a specialized mobility service for individuals living with a disability who are not able to use Thunder Bay Transit for all or part of their trips. The City of Thunder Bay’s Transit Services’ current conventional transit system is based on 19 fixed routes; 145,000 service hours annually; 116 Operators (99 Full-time, 17 part-time); 48 12-metre fully accessible, low floor buses that have a maximum capacity of up to 54 passengers (average 30 seated). Transit is going to undergo a transformation to become more relevant and reliable and expects to develop and implement a new hybrid model of public transit that includes a combination of fixed route and On Demand service. On Demand transit is a shared-ride, demand-responsive public transit service. The service model does not follow a fixed-route or schedule. Instead, customers must pre-book trips and vehicles are routed dynamically to designated pick up and drop off points nearest the passengers origin and destination. Modern On Demand transit services utilize mobile app technology, which allows customers to plan, book, and track their ride in real-time.

Your thoughts, opinions and satisfaction levels will be used to shape the planning process, priorities, and strategies for the future of Transit Services.
