The City of Thunder Bay is inviting performing artists and bands to apply to participate in the Recreation & Culture Division's annual events series. All events are free to the public and collectively draw tens of thousands of attendees. Performance opportunities include over 12 event dates.
Applications may also be shared with other areas within the City of Thunder Bay who may be looking to book performing artists/bands for their events.
Recreation & Culture events include, but are not limited to:
- SnowDay on the Waterfront - February 17
- Quest: Tech & Gaming - May 9 & 10
- Kite Festival - June 8
- Canada Day - July 1
- Teddy Bears Picnic - July 8
- Live on the Waterfront - July 16/23/30 August 6/13/20/27/28
- Arts & Culture Under the Lights - September 19
- Culture Days - September 19 - October 12
This call to talent is for musicians and bands. A separate call to talent is available for community dance groups, theatre groups, comedians, etc,.
Musicians and bands interested in participating in events are required to provide the following items in order to be considered:
- This "Call to Talent - Musicians & Bands" form, completely and accurately filled in.
- An internet link, file, video, or audio sample of the artist or group that will be used to aid in selecting talent.
- A link to the artist or groups social media channel or website. (if available)
- A high resolution photograph of the artist or group and is clear, professional and will reproduce well in printed and black & white publications.
- A short biography of the artist or group that will be used to promote the event. (200-500 words)
A technical rider with stage plot may be requested once an artist or group is accepted to perform.

Please note:
- Incomplete and/or late application may not be considered.
- The decision of the City events staff, with the advice of a jury, will be final.
- While on stage, artists are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that is suitable for a family venue (i.e. no use of profanity, no smoking, no drinking of alcohol, etc.)
- Artists/bands need to arrive on time to scheduled sound checks and show times with their required equipment.
- The City has the sole to accept or reject applications (i.e., activities promoting political/religious groups or values and activities/products not appropriate for a family audience will not be allowed).
- The City events staff reserves the right to program set lengths and placement in entertainment line ups.
- The City reserves the right to seek and select additional talent outside of this process.
