Study Commencement
Stormwater Management Projects & Storm Sewer Outfall Locations

The City of Thunder Bay is carrying out a study to determine the preferred stormwater management improvement at six different locations. These projects will possibly be constructed outside the municipal road allowance and will possibly include the construction of new or upgraded storm sewer outfalls into either the Neebing River or McVicar Creek.

The stormwater management projects being considered include the construction of new Green Infrastructure facilities, also known as Low Impact Development facilities, which are landscaped, shallow depressions, intended to clean stormwater and reduce flooding.

The six projects are:

  1. Margaret Street #1 – South of Elm Street, West of McVicar Creek, including new storm outfall.
  2. Margaret Street #2 – East of Elm Street, West of McVicar Creek, including new storm outfall.
  3. Margaret Street #3 – Southwest of Gibbon Street, East of McVicar Creek, including new storm outfall.
  4. Madeline Street – East of Madeline Street, North of Theresa Street, South of McVicar Creek, including new storm outfall.
  5. Cameron Street – West of Waterloo Street, North of Neebing River, including new storm outfall.
  6. Riverview Drive – Northwest of Donald Street, South of Neebing River, including new storm outfall.

Please view Notice of Study - Additional Info - Stormwater Management & Storm Sewer Outfall Locations for additional details and imagery of the locations under consideration.

These projects are being planned under Schedule “B” of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment.
