Proposed changes to building permit fees

The City of Thunder Bay has proposed making changes to the fees charged for building permits.

A public information session is being held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at City Hall, McNaughton Room, 3rd Floor.

Purpose of Meeting:

• Inform the community of the proposed amendments to the Building Permit Fee schedule.
• Provide an opportunity for interested parties to express their opinion regarding the amendments.
• Gather community input to assist in evaluation of the amendments.

Purpose of Amendments:

• Building Permit Fees have not changed since 2017 and approximately 13 years prior to 2017.
• To offset increased costs to Building Services for the administration and enforcement of the Building Code Act and for the delivery of services to the community.
• To remain consistent with major municipalities of comparable size in Ontario.
