Consultation has concluded
The City of Thunder Bay operates and maintains 38 outdoor rinks for residents to enjoy. Outdoor rinks are typically open from mid-December through mid-March (weather permitting), excluding Prince Arthur's Landing which is open from the first week of December until the end of March Break.
There are a variety of different skating options including boarded rinks, unboarded rinks, ponds and skating ovals.
Skating is a great way to stay active and is a great cardio exercise. It also has many other health benefits including better balance, improved flexibility, better endurance, and some even say it is a great way to relieve stress!
Online survey:
An online survey was available for residents to share their views and provide feedback on the City's outdoor rinks. The survey closed on February 29, 2020.
The information from the survey will be informing our Rink Rationalization report going to Council this Spring. The survey will help us understand how the current program is working, any areas that may need improvement, and what we should be considering as we make changes going forward.

Thank you for taking the time to share your views on Thunder Bay's Outdoor Skating Rinks. We would encourage parents to fill out surveys on behalf of their children. If multiple people in a familiy use the rinks at different times, then multiple surveys should be completed.
