Community Energy and Emissions Plan - Stakeholder Page
Consultation has concluded
Thank you for your involvement in the development of the Community Energy & Emissions Plan.
As you know, the City of Thunder Bay begun the planning process for the creation of a Community Energy and Emissions Plan (CEEP): a community-wide plan for getting Thunder Bay from the fossil-fuel dependent city it is today, to a low-carbon city of the future.
The CEEP will be shaped by a community engagement process, to be completed by January 2021. The completed CEEP will provide a slate of ambitious, long-term actions for the city corporation and the broader community.
Why are we developing a Community Energy and Emissions Plan?
The CEEP will help Thunder Bay understand its current and projected energy use in a business-as-usual and a low-carbon future. The goal is to explore energy opportunities as a community, and create a vision for a local energy future that supports jobs and local economic development while improving our quality of life and addressing climate change impacts.
The project will bring together: energy experts, City staff and officials, local business, institutions, industry, not-for-profit organizations, and the community. The completed CEEP will provide a slate of ambitious, long-term actions for the City and Community.
In 2019, the City of Thunder Bay received funding from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities along with the Province of Ontario’s Municipal Energy Plan program for the Plan's creation.
Who will help create the Plan?
The project will bring together: energy experts, City staff and officials, local businesses, institutions, industry, not-for-profit organizations, and the community.
