Will Baseball Central be removed as part of the Central Avenue Development Lands project?
No. The current development plan maintains Baseball Central and recognizes it as an important local and regional recreational asset. The project has been planned to complement and support the existing baseball facilities while enabling new housing, parks, trails, and infrastructure improvements in the surrounding area.
When will the new neighbourhood be completed?
Development of the Central Avenue Development Lands will occur in phases over many years. Infrastructure construction is underway and is expected to continue through March 31, 2029. While some development may begin before all infrastructure projects are complete, housing, commercial development, parks, and other community amenities will be built gradually over time as development opportunities move forward. The project is anticipated to provide approximately 10 years of development opportunities to support future growth in Thunder Bay.
