A new accessible dock is expanding recreation opportunities at Boulevard Lake. This project includes a new access walkway, improved dock, and accessible canoe and kayak launch located at the boathouse off of the main Boulevard Lake parking lot.
This dock and boat launch offer free public access to the lake for a range of paddle sports, including canoe, kayak, Dragonboat, and stand-up paddleboards. It will also help support the Thunder Bay Paddlesport Club’s programming for older adults and people with disabilities.
Have you used the new dock? We're looking for your feedback!
This project was made possible with $57,935 in funding through the Province of Ontario’s Enhancing Access to Spaces for Everyone (EASE) grant program, and the donation of the repurposed finger dock by the Paddlesports Club.
This new facility is an important addition to the existing accessible recreational amenities in this area, including the Canadian Tire Jumpstart inclusive playground, adult fitness area, beach volleyball with adjustable net for sitting play, beach mat with lift and mobi-chair, accessible walkways and trails, as well as accessible change rooms and bathrooms.
The new dock facility supports the City’s commitment to offer events and recreation opportunities for all. Users of the new dock are encouraged to provide feedback on their experience by completing the short survey below.
